Amarillo College's wind program has been getting attention from various news media around the Texas Panhandle. AC was approved for $440,000 from the Amarillo Economic Development Corp. to start a wind program for students. According to the Web site, www.myhighplains.

A professor at Texas A&M International University in Laredo was fired Nov. 5 for displaying on his course blog the names of six students accused of plagiarism.

Loye Young, formerly an adjunct professor of management information systems, said his course syllabus warned students he would "publicly fail and humiliate" any student caught plagiarizing.

Editor, I take great exception to the homophobia expressed in a recent letter to the Daily Lobo, "A society of Schraders would lack government, infrastructure," on Nov. 13 by UNM student Andres Saenz. While Saenz may find others who sympathize with him for attacking Don Schrader's decisions regarding taxes, personal medical coverage and income (to say nothing of his constant near-nudity), Saenz jettisons any goodwill his points may have earned him by opening his letter with, "Don Schrader is an overtly gay man who contributes nothing to our society.
