No need to hide your guns ... yet

Crosshair gun store in Clovis has an ad on the radio that tells about a sale they're having on their merchandise. The commercial urges people to hurry and get their firearms before … "you know."
This commercial is only adding fire to an extremely odd belief that many Americans share; the belief that Obama is going to abolish our Second Amendment right to own firearms.
I find the entire notion extremely ludicrous. This is mass paranoia at its finest. I am a firearm owner, and I have been since the young age of 6, when I got my first BB gun.
Am I scared that the government is going to knock down my door and take my gun from me? No, I am not.
Am I going to encase my firearms in PVC pipe and bury them in the backyard in preparation for the day when the government takes over completely and comes after those of us who exercise our Second Amendment right? No, I am truly unafraid.
I am not afraid of these events because I honestly cannot see them happening. Obama is one man. Sure, he will be the President of the United States, but the title doesn't come with as much power as people think.
He can use his charisma and charm and eloquent speech to try and sway congress and the senate and whoever else to restrict gun owner's rights, but would it work? How many people in those places of power own guns and wish to keep that right?
Aside from that, the Second Amendment is a part of the Bill of Rights. You know, the inalienable ones. Obama does not have the power to enact another amendment to abolish the second amendment.
Even if he could somehow talk the government into taking away our guns, he has said many times that he would not do this. Sure, he wants to try to keep guns out of the wrong hands.
How can we fault him for this? The only people who have anything to worry about in my eyes are those that plan to further sully the reputation of the firearm by using it to harm others and commit crimes.
The millions of us who own firearms and have never hurt our fellow man with them have nothing to worry about.
I know there are many of you who did not vote for Obama, and there are many of you who (annoyingly) professed your desire to move to Canada on Nov. 4.
The fact of the matter is, the majority of Americans wanted him in office, just like the majority of you wanted Bush in office the past two years. So, seeing as how Obama is going to be in office come January, for the next four, or maybe even eight, years - I say just sit back and see what he does, and speak up when you can.
Maybe he'll surprise you, maybe he won't, but that doesn't matter. If he doesn't impress us, we'll elect someone else in 2012.
