The incident was just one of many things Keith used as material to win over the crowd at Ground Zero in the Campus Union Building. The 21-year-old funnyman touched on subjects like racism, life experiences and, the ever-so popular, sex.
"You can make fun of white people, if you want," Keith told the crowd, "but … we'll start a war."
The joke prompted most of the audience to laugh, and Keith kept the laughter going with hilarious material that was cleaned up for one in attendance.
Keith promised Office of Student Activities and Organizations Director Tracy Henderson a semi-clean show. He even changed certain four-letter words in his act to "Jackson, Mississippi". Throughout the show, Keith checked - from onstage - with Henderson to make sure he was not pushing the envelope too far.
Keith had fun with the photographer taking pictures during the show. He posed for a few shots and joked about an encounter with the photographer.
"She came up to me before the show and was like 'Can I flash you?'" Keith said.
He poked fun at the limited restaurant selections in Portales and the estimated number of people attending the show. The California native even showed how down-to-earth he is by discussing a situation with a female fan to the audience.
"I was working a club once, and the waitress came up to one of my buddies, and she goes, 'I really want to sleep with Geoff Keith,'" he said. "That's me! And then she goes - I swear to God - 'But I just know that he's way out of my league.' Does any guy in here have a league? I don't have a league.
"I'm like the Rec. Center: open to the public. All you have to do is live nearby and sign up."
Keith mentioned his criteria for a date to the ladies in the crowd by giving them the list.
"I only have three requirements when it comes to girls," Keith said. "Ready? One: are you a girl? Have you always been a girl? And, if not, can you keep a secret?"
Keith has performed in such markets as Comedy Central, The Late Show with Craig Ferguson, BET's One Mic Stand and E! channel's Chelsea Lately. He can now add ENMU to that prestigious list.
