The time has come, fellow students and faculty, for me to move on in life and leave The Chase. I will certainly miss all of you but hopefully you won't miss me too much, as I intend on leaving my position as photography editor in capable hands.

I leave in hopes that those of you who continue on at Eastern New Mexico University will make the most of your time here. I speak, of course, of your academics, but also of your social time. In attending college, you all have been given an unthinkably amazing opportunity to experience things that so many others will not.

College is a time to make something of yourselves and your chance to do something to make those positive influences in your life proud of you, so study hard and get as much out of your classes as possible; even if that means a little more work.

Furthermore, I urge you to really get to know your professors. If you get to know them outside of class, you will find most of them are warm and caring individuals that may share quite a bit in common with you. They can also be the ones to write letters of recommendation for you, which you will need in the future.

College is also a time to make those "I remember that one time" moments. ASAB is here to help with concerts and events like paintball and water parks. They work hard to ensure that you have several opportunities to be entertained and mingle with your fellow students. Best of all, it's free, so what do you have to lose? It does you no good to sit in your dorm room and make memories of television reruns while the "college experience" passes you by right outside your door.

While your studies are important, you must allow yourself some fun. Get out and meet some new friends, join clubs, and go to parties. It is said that you will regret the things you don't do far more than you will regret the things you do (just use some common sense in your exciting times).

I urge you to take pictures! No matter how great your memory is now, it will eventually fail you when forced to work on its own. Those photos will bring the frozen moments of your youth back to you in full color and you will cherish them for as long as you live.
