The exhibit, features artists from multiple college art instructors, and the display will continue up to Sept. 25.
The works of 11 different artists are featured in the exhibit, including Eddie Dominguez, a favorite artist of a recent ENMU graduate, Heather Hancock. "I love his Landscape 3 for the color and texture… I love it for its
painterly quality," Hancock said.
According to Runnels Gallery Director, Christopher Calderon, the show is solely ceramic, but is wonderful in that it is both functional and sculptural.
"Some of the art is even modeled after toys," Calderon said, explaining that the art in the show is very functional.
One amazing piece in the show, according Calderon, is done by Steven Hiton. The piece is called "3,228…3,229…3,330." It looks like bark set into tar, he said, but really is an amazing composition of clay made to look like shards that he places uniquely into a concrete base.
The show will end with a reception on Sept. 25, which will be accompanied by a two-day ceramics workshop. It is what Calderon calls a "Tex Mex Invitational," with art instructors from Texas and New Mexico bringing their skills, specialties, and tools to the workshop.
The gallery displays work year-round. This fall the gallery will feature a student exhibit and will finish off the year with an art faculty exhibit and an art alumni exhibit in the fall.
